50 Cent Explains The Benefits Of Delaying His Fifth Solo Album

Fif speaks on how he approached penning material with his upcoming LP.

50 Cent has been taking his time with his untitled fifth solo album, a tactic that’s allowed him to better focus on his material. During a press conference at the Festival de Casablanca 2011, Fif explained that he was always racing to meet deadlines with previous albums, but took the Eminem and Dr. Dre approach with this LP.

“I’ve worked longer on this album than any of my other projects. I’ve had the opportunity to evaluate the things that I created initially, and go back and revamp things and change things around a bit,” he said. “Both Em and Dre have had opportunities to critique themselves, when I was always on the shot clock. So this time, I get a chance to really make sure I feel like it’s going to be the right music for this time period.”

Like with his debut Get Rich or Die Tryin', the G-Unit general is looking towards his personal life for inspiration on his next release, but realizes the stakes are high.

“My material comes from my actual experience. In a lot of ways, the things that I’m saying, it doesn’t necessarily reflect my mind state at the time, but my first album had all of the dysfunction that I was being exposed to. It went on to be the largest debuting Hip Hop album, selling 12 million records. The task of recreating that came up. So I had to figure out new ways to write things or new portions of my experience to create music based on those things. Now, this album, it’s more creative, I feel like, because I’ve’ had to find things away from those things that I’ve done continuously.”

Lil Wayne Doesn't Like "Anne"

We posted the song "Dear Anne (Stan Part 2)" by chart-topping rapper Lil Wayne earlier this month. The song isn't bad and has a good sound, but from the lyrics, it doesn't quite make sense. There seemed to be a concept of some sort but it wasn't tied together very well. Apparently Wayne himself isn't a fan of the song either:

A couple of weeks ago, Wayne’s collaboration with Swizz Beatz titled “Dear Anne (Stan Part 2)” hit the internet and found the charismatic Miami transplant pledging devotion to his number one fan. And while Weezy says he’s heard accolades from his real life fans as well as his Young Money camp, Lil Tunechi isn’t sold that the song will make the cut for his August 29 release Tha Carter IV.

“That was actually a record for Tha Carter III that just leaked,” Wayne told XXL last week in Miami’s Hit Factory. “It leaked out and everybody’s thinking that it’s going on Tha Carter IV ’cause I was actually gonna put it on Tha Carter IV . But I had been listening to it and didn’t like it. I don’t like it ‘cause the song, all the verses are old. And me being a perfectionist, I hate going with old verses.”

Wayne’s right hand man Mack Maine and manager Cortez Bryant have expressed different sentiments. “Mack and Tez and them, they love it,” he said. “They be like ‘Man, you trippin, you killed it.’ I be like, ‘Did you hear what I just said? I don’t wanna do that anymore.’ But I heard that the ‘Anne’ song has been getting buzzed up and everybody’s buzzin’ about it so it might end up one of those you might have to put on the album, you know what I mean. But I ain’t trippin’ on it like that; I don’t like the song. I love the beat; I love the idea. I don’t like my execution. I don’t like what I did, I don’t like how I delivered on it. The idea that I had for it, I didn’t accomplish that, what I thought I was gonna do. ‘Cause I was tryna make it a situation song. And I just don’t like it.”

Eminem Explains Lady Gaga Diss

On the cut “The Kiss” off the upcoming Bad Meets Evil release Hell: The Sequel EP, Eminem takes a jab at Lady Gaga, rapping, “Tell Lady Gaga she can quit her job at the post office / She's still a male lady/ Wouldn't fuck her with her dick / You heard it / The verdict's in.”

But while backstage at Bonnaroo 2011, Eminem spoke with FUSE, singing a different tune about one of pop’s biggest stars.

“I think Lady Gaga, as an artist you know, she’s undeniable, you know. That was one of them things where sometimes I get a joke in my head and I kinda want to share it with the world, you know what I’m saying. So it was just one of them things man, and it’s you know it’s all in fun, its hip-hop,” he explained. “It is what it is, but as far as an artist, she’s dope, she’s an incredible talent.”

It looks like Lil Wayne has let forth his fondness for rap phenom Eminem again with a song called "Dear Anne (Stan Pt. 2)." If you know hip-hop, you certainly know the song "Stan," wherein a deranged rap fan becomes so angered by perceived disrespect from his idol - Eminem - that he stuffs his girlfriend (along with her unborn daughter) in a trunk and drives the car off a bridge. Wayne's version is very different but I genuinely like it. They both have very different styles and this shows Wayne's versatility. Download it below.

Meeting Your Idol: Rita's Story Of Meeting Eminem

QueenMathers, or Rita, is a Twitter user that Blood Is One follows on Twitter. Rita managed to meet her idol Eminem, who she has been a fan of for twelve years, and get a photo of him! (The photo is above.) Here's her story from her own words:


Well, I happened to find a thing online that mentioned that Em and Dre were filming the music video to "I Need A Doctor." I work at a movie studio and it was filming only a few miles away so I headed straight to the address after work. I was in nicer clothes, and I kept my badge on so I looked nice and official, that way people wouldn't question what I was doing as much, as compared to just random people without an official badge. So as I was walking around I found a bunch of trailers and stuff but after a while I found out it wasn't the music video so I started losing hope because I didn't see ANYWHERE else they could've been filming.


So finally I grew a pair and just decided to work my badge. So I went up to random security and was like, "Hi, my friend turned her phone off and I can't find her. She's working on the music video with Dr. Dre and Eminem, do you happen to know where that is?"...and guess what? He told me EXACTLY where they were haha. So I found it...and it was hidden in an alley way where you wouldn't know that the biggest artist alive was hanging out in. So I waited in this creepy alley way...and NO ONE bothered me. Security walked by and just smiled at me. So after a good 45 minutes Dr. Dre comes walking towards me...but he was walking with his daughter...AND i didn't want to blow my cover (that I was a crazy fan) and have them get rid of me before Eminem came out...So I just let him pass. We made eye contact...but that was it. (He also had body guards...but I figured if Eminem was NOT there, I would get a picture with him whenever he came back from lunch). So after another 30 minutes I'm looking down, and when I pop my head back up...here comes Eminem walking with like 3 security guards, his manager, and like 15 more people from the music video shoot. At this point he was like 20 feet away from me...I was shaking, freaking out...and didn't know if I could say anything because he was SURROUNDED. So I just pretended to text on my phone so no one even ASSUMED I would bother him...and right when he walked by me I FINALLY got the urge to just STUTTER in a quiet voice "Em....." (came out sounding like a little boy going through puberty) but he didn't hear me so I finally was like "EMINEM!" really loudly...still stuttering. He heard me this time and looked me right in the eyes and I literally froze.


I was like "Uhhhhh hi, can I possibly have a picture with you?" He asked, who I assume was Paul (Rosenberg) BUT, I couldn't tell you because my eyes could LITERALLY only see Em, NOTHING else. Whoever he asked said yes and he was like "yeah sure" and he waved me to him(I was sitting down). So I quietly was like "ohhh myyy god, I'm such a big fan, you have NO idea"...he sweetly thanked me. Put his arm around me, took the picture....I said something else (at this point I basically blacked out from joy) and I don't remember what I said but I know he said thank you again. And then we said our goodbyes. It was INCREDIBLE. I mean we barely said much to each other because I couldn't exactly utter anything out...and you can tell he's all shy and reserved...just like you would think. And the best part was after I took the pic all the people that were working on the music video that were with him kind of gave me this "Fuck you I can't even get a damn picture with him" look.
